Women and technology – clever idea! Girls’ Day 2016 at ept
It is almost a tradition by now: For the past few years, ept has invited female students to participate in Girls’ Day to explore technical vocations first-hand. Girls’ Day 2016 was yet another major success. On 28 April, 17 girls from the region visited our operation in Peiting to explore different technical vocations and learn about the responsibilities of toolmakers, mechatronic technicians, IT specialists, and technical product designers up close and in person.
Over the course of the morning, the young women visited our training center and built a picture frame with an integrated mirror on the back with the help of our apprentices. At seven different stations, they learned about different jobs and took advantage of the opportunity to test their own skills.
The opinions of our participants are important to us, so at the end of the day, the girls were asked to complete a survey. The results were clear: Girls’ Day fulfilled the expectations of all participants. Seven of the 17 participants could imagine training for a career as a toolmaker at ept.
We are pleased that the students enjoyed our programs and we hope to see them again soon.
