ept Among Bavaria’s Top 50 Once More - Receives Special Award
Bavaria's Minister of Economic Affairs Franz Josef Pschierer honors award winners
ept has been awarded a place among Bavaria’s Top 50 SMEs for the second time. And that’s not all! This year, ept also received a special award for its outstanding commitment to training and education. Bavarian State Minister of Economic Affairs Franz Josef Pschierer presented the prize to Thomas Guglhör, Managing Director, and his brother Claus Guglhör, Sales Director and authorized signatory, at the awards ceremony in the New Schleissheim Palace on 23 July 2018. ept apprentices Sophia Thurner and Michael Fischer represented their company in accepting the special award for extraordinary commitment to training and education.
Strong employee and revenue growth
The main criterion for choosing the recipient of the award was growth in revenue and employee count, both from 2013 to 2017 and with an eye to the year 2018. The ept Group’s revenue increased by 135 percent between 2012 and 2017, growing to €133 million, and the projections for 2018 promised yet another remarkable increase.
Further criteria for the selection process included sustainable earnings as well as economic stability. The accountancy and tax consultancy PSP Peters Schönberger GmbH carried out the independent, objective evaluation of the company according to these criteria. With three Bavarian locations in Peiting, Buching, and Augsburg and international locations in the Czech Republic, the United States, and China, the ept Group belongs to the leading group of 50 Bavarian SMEs that best meet these standards.
Expanding to accommodate increased production
ept GmbH has grown in many areas beyond just employee count and revenue in the past years, as evidenced by the following figures. In 2013, the ept plant in Buching doubled its workshop and production space. Locations were expanded and new construction took place in Augsburg (2013) and Habartov (2016) in the Czech Republic as well. The Habartov location gained 7,000 new square meters, expanding its workspace by 175 percent. A year later, 6,000 square meters of new construction took place at the South Chesterfield location in the United States. In total, the ept Group increased its production space by more than 70 percent compared to 2012, and its office space grew by 40 percent.
In 2018, the headquarters in Peiting began to receive a much needed expansion. The construction was already underway at the beginning of July and should be completed by September 2019. The new plant addition will expand the ground floor stamping workshop and warehouse by some 3,100 square meters. A modern training workshop is coming to the upper floor and will offer even more space for the growth of the ept apprenticeship program. Moreover, the new construction will also provide space for a cafeteria as well as additional office and meeting rooms. The addition and expansion measures will create more production space to accommodate the rising order volume. The need for qualified specialists is growing just as quickly.
ept GmbH demonstrates extraordinary commitment to training and education
Around 1170 employees currently work at ept, 125 of which are apprentices. 106 apprentices, the majority, completed their training at the ept plants in Peiting and Buching. This month alone, 16 more young people finished their ept apprenticeships. Some of them were even able to finish ahead of schedule thanks to their exceptional work and excellent grades. Thomas Guglhör is proud of the apprentices’ achievements. “We’re excited that our own large pool of apprentices are helping us combat today’s shortage in qualified specialists, which is also affecting ept. As a company with roots in Bavaria, we are committed to taking on social responsibility in our region. I am especially pleased that ept was honored with the special prize for outstanding commitment to training and education. I’m convinced that our strong training programs for young, motivated people form one of the foundations for further success and high productivity. We’re on the right path!”
